What is Taekwondo?

Taekwondo is an ancient martial art originating from Korea.  The word “tae” means “foot.” The word “kwon” means “fist” and “do” is “the way.”  Together, the word means “the way of the foot and fist” or “the way of kicking and punching.”  The art, in general, empowers kicks from a mobile stance, using the leg's greater reach and power (compared to the arm).  However, Taekwondo training includes a system of blocks, kicks, punches, strikes and may also include various take-downs or sweeps, throws, and joint locks.  Taekwondo is well known for it’s kicking techniques, which differentiates it from other forms of martial arts.  Taekwondo develops confidence, discipline, strength, balance, power, speed, flexibility, and endurance.

PMAC’s Taekwondo program emphasizes kicking techniques as well as components of many other styles beneficial to the martial artist.  We practice the traditions of taekwondo which incorporates boxing, kickboxing, grappling, take-downs, and joint manipulations, which is similar to modern day mixed martial arts.   PMAC’s programs also include Sport Taekwondo for those individuals who desire to compete at Regional, National, and International events in sparring or forms.

What is Combat-Taek X?

It is a high energy, educating, fun and positive class. And you can go at your own pace! You will be using your whole body! For a stronger body, mind, spirit... for a stronger YOU!

What is Power Yoga??

The word Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word "Yuj" meaning to yoke, join or unite. This means joining or integrating all aspects of the individual (body with mind and mind with soul) to achieve a happy, balanced and productive life. While stretching is certainly involved in this practice, yoga is really about creating balance in the body through the development of both strength and flexibility. This is achieved through the performance of poses or postures, each of which has specific physical benefits.

Power Yoga focuses on building muscle strength and flexibility. It is for the practitioner that enjoys exercising and/or desires a fit life. Power Yoga is a great way to build strength, flexibility, core strength, and feeling better about oneself. It is great for weight loss and stress relief.

PMAC's Power Yoga Class is designed to help practitioners build a stronger mind and body. We focus on building strong bodies and flexibility! Poses and postures are designed to build and tone muscle as well as refreshing the mind! You can go at your own pace and strength/flexibility level
